  2. XX.3.9 - USS WEISS (APD-135) underway refueling

    Original footage copied to a VHS tape of WEISS being refueled at sea. It's believed this refueling occured during the ship's service period from 1961 - 1970. Narrator is unknown but was a sailor aboard the tanker. This video was made for a reunion of that tanker's crew. Yellow label on front reads: "REFUELING WEISS." Tape is Kodak brand.

  3. XX.3.93 - 26 Youths Enter Navy Service Here

    This article appeared in the 12 September 1943 edition of the Lansing State Journal. Titled "26 YOUTHS ENTER NAVY SERVICE HERE" it lists the names of local men joining the Navy. Burton Morgan Sickelsmith went on to serve aboard USS BRONSTEIN (DE-189) and USS STURTEVANT (DE-239) in late 1945 and early 1946 as a Seaman First Class.

    This green government issued notebook was used by Fred W. Taylor, FC3c during his WWII service aboard the BOSTWICK. This book contains his handwritten fire control notes for the 3-inch/.50 caliber deck gun, 20mm, and 40mm.

  6. XX.3.96 - Financial report

    Fred W. Taylor used this sheet of paper to keep track of his expenses after getting paid on 5 September 1945. On that day, he received $25 but spent a total of $11.75 on paying off an eight dollar debt, cigarrettes, a haircut, movies, food, taxi fare, and phone calls. By day's end, he had $14.25 remaining. On this date, the BOSTWICK was moored at the U.S. Naval Air Station Pier, Quonset Point, Rhode Island.

  7. XX.3.97 - The Naval Gun Factory Amplifier for 40mm Power Drives MK. 5 & MK. 6

    This manual was sent to ships using a previous 40mm amplifier to educate crews on the new amplifier. It is brief manual covering the reasons for the change, how to adjust it, and put it through a test. A more in depth operating procedure was later sent, according to this memo.
