Four-paged Commissioning booklet provided to invitees at the CONNOLLY's commissioning ceremony at the Mare Island Navy Yard in California, 8 July 1944. A lengthy biography of the ship's namesake, Chief Pay Clerk John Gaynor Connolly, USN is included along with a list of the officers assigned to the ship. Of note, the commanding officer at the time was still a Lieutenant. He was eventually advanced to Lt. Commander William Collier. |
