This clipped article comes from an unknown publication. The crew of the Chinese freighter, HWA TUNG, were rescued by the FIEBERLING and the cruiser USS ATLANTA (CL-104) which had been standing by after receiving an SOS signal from the damaged ship. The "San Pedro News-Pilot" of December 14, 1946 provides further information. The ship was abandoned by its crew after the forward two holds had taken on water. |
