Title |
Moored near USS MISSOURI (BB-63) |
Description |
Black and white photographs taken from another ship or building showing two destroyer escorts tied up with USS MISSOURI (BB-63) reportedly in the background. Handwritten on the front at the top: "DE-58 DE-248 USS MISSOURI" and at the bottom: "DE248 & a [sic] 58 USS MISSOURI." DE-248 was USS SWASEY and DE-58 was USS FORMOE (DE-58), later HMS CALDER (K-349). This photograph may have been taken in early 1944 when MISSOURI was being outfitted at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. If this is the correct time period, DE-58 would have already been in British service for over six months. |
