This most likely refers to convoy CU-50 which departed NYC on 9 December 1944 and arrived at Liverpool and other ports on 20 December. It may also refer to the return convoy, UC-50A which departed Liverpool and other ports on 24 December and arrived at NYC on 4 January 1945.

  17. 2002.66.1 - USS CLAUD JONES underway

    Colortone print of the CLAUD JONES underway, date and location unknown. She was the lead ship of her class of four ships. Her size and speed were comparable to the WWII classes before her but only featured a single screw. The two 3-inch deck guns were enclosed unlike previous classes of 3-inch. Hedgehogs remained but modern torpedoes were added.

  19. 2002.97.1 - USS DALE W. PETERSON entering San Diego

    Colorized photograph of the DALE W. PETERSON entering San Diego in September 1945. She had departed Pearl Harbor on the morning of 5 September for San Diego, carrying 50 U.S. Army enlisted personnel, 1 U.S. Army Officer, and 5 U.S. Naval Officers as passengers. That same day she joined Task Unit 10.18.3 consisting of numerous destroyer escorts also enroute to the mainland. She moored to the Navy Pier in San Diego at 1049 on 11 September.
