1998.5.16 - Gun barrel explosion
Black and white image of the 1.1-inch gun on the CONNOLLY after it burst. On 7 March 1945 a barrel on the 1.1 - inch gun exploded when it fired upon a mine spotted floating in the water. From the ship's Deck Log: "FRATUS, Daniel Joseph, S1c, 804 07 46, USNR, received a laceration and possible injury to the bone while at his battle station as Trainer on the 1.1" gun, due to a premature explosion in the muzzle of number 3 barrel of the 1.1" gun."

2019.17.11 - Commissioning Ceremony Program
Four-paged Commissioning booklet provided to invitees at the CONNOLLY's commissioning ceremony at the Mare Island Navy Yard in California, 8 July 1944. A lengthy biography of the ship's namesake, Chief Pay Clerk John Gaynor Connolly, USN is included along with a list of the officers assigned to the ship. Of note, the commanding officer at the time was still a Lieutenant. He was eventually advanced to Lt. Commander William Collier.

Upon crossing the Equator at 00°-00', 170°E on 9 March 1945, Walter Shaub, F1c recieved this summons from King Neptune. He was accused of owning a pink tooth brush with which he cleans his toes. He was also accused of shooting flares at night.
